Drones The UK government is set to sign contracts with more than 100 drone companies in the space of the next week.
According to the Financial Times (FT), the Department of Transport (DfT) will announce contracts for 14 private drone trials around the UK on July 30. It is not known how much each of the companies is paid, and how many businesses will be involved in the trials. The trials are part of the government's plan to get drones into the skies, with the DfT planning a network of 1,000 sites where drones can be tested within five years. Racing Drones Five separate companies are going to be given a grant of nearly £100,000 to assess the current state of drone technology in both the construction and agriculture industries. Wealthier businesses will receive additional money to pay for larger drones to fly at maximum height, for the construction of giant construction sites, or for crop inspections.
