By virtue of their status;
- They have more funding for research
- They take a larger chunk of PhD students
- They have plenty funding for PhD students via GRA/GTA
- Most of their professors are open to taking more than one student for PhD
- Professors in these Universities are known to give favorable responses to properly worded cold mails.
