Tips for Prospective #PhD Students Seeking Positions Abroad
Navigating the journey of seeking a PhD position abroad can be challenging. Based on my own experience, I'd like to share some key insights that might help you in this process:
Cast a wide net: I emailed 60+ professors before receiving responses. Don't be discouraged by a lack of replies; it's a numbers game.
Connect with current/former students: Gaining insights from students on LinkedIn or other platforms can be invaluable for understanding the research group's dynamics and PI's working style.
Focus on the Principal Investigator (PI): The PI's expertise, research interests, and mentoring style matter more than the school ranking. A great PI can provide invaluable guidance and support throughout your PhD journey.
Remember, perseverance and dedication are key to securing a PhD position abroad. Best of luck to all of you!
